Terms of Service

1. Cancellation & Refund Policy

We understand that plans can change and aim to make our cancellation policy as fair as possible:

  • Cancellations made more than 72 hours before the tour start receive a full refund.
  • Cancellations made between 36 and 72 hours before the tour receive a 50% refund.
  • Cancellations made less than 36 hours before the tour, as well as no-shows, are non-refundable.
2. Changes, Delays & Force Majeure
  1. Shared History Tours reserves the right to modify, postpone or cancel tours due to circumstances beyond its control, including severe weather conditions, protests, unfavourable road conditions, guide illness or other unforeseen events.
  2. Where possible, suitable alternatives or rescheduling options will be offered. If a tour cannot take place, clients will receive a full refund of the tour price.
  3. Shared History Tours shall not be liable for any additional costs or expenses incurred by clients as a result of such changes, delays or cancellations.
3. Guide Conduct & Client Behaviour
  1. For the safety and well-being of all participants, the guide’s decisions during the tour shall be final.
  2. Clients are expected to comply with the laws and customs of Namibia and to behave respectfully towards guides, fellow participants, local communities and memorial sites visited during the tour.
  3. Discriminatory, aggressive or disrespectful behaviour will not be tolerated and may result in exclusion from the tour without refund.
  4. Should a participant be required to leave the tour due to misconduct, they shall be responsible for arranging their own onward transport at their own expense and risk.
4. Environmental & Cultural Respect
  1. Clients are expected to show respect and sensitivity toward the natural environment, cultural sites and sites connected to colonial violence, genocide and anti-colonial resistance encountered during the tour.
  2. This includes behaving respectfully at memorials and historically sensitive sites and following any instructions provided by the guide.
5. Health & Participation
  1. It is the client’s responsibility to ensure that they are medically fit and physically able to participate in the tour.
  2. As tours take place outdoors, clients are expected to bring sufficient drinking water, sun protection and suitable clothing. Shared History Tours cannot be held liable for dehydration, sunburn, heat exhaustion or other heat-related illness occurring during the tour.
  3. Guests are kindly asked to arrive at least 10 minutes before the tour start. Late arrivals may miss parts of the tour and cannot always be accommodated.
6. Photography, Audio Recordings & Media
  1. Photographs and short video clips may occasionally be taken during tours for documentation and promotional purposes, including use on social media, websites and printed material.
  2. Guests who do not wish to appear in photographs or videos are kindly asked to inform the guide before the start of the tour.
  3. Photography by participants is generally permitted unless otherwise communicated by the guide. Audio recordings of tours or guides are only permitted with prior consent from Shared History Tours and the respective guide.
  4. Journalists, reporters, content creators and media representatives are expected to identify themselves prior to the start of the tour. Undercover filming or recording is not permitted.

7. Liability
  1. While every precaution is taken to ensure the safety of all persons joining the tour, participation takes place at the client’s own risk. Shared History Tours cannot be held liable for accidents, injury, delays, theft, loss or damage to personal property occurring during the tour, except where required by law.
  2. Should transportation be arranged by Shared History Tours, such transportation carries passenger liability insurance only.
  3. Clients are strongly encouraged to obtain appropriate travel and health insurance covering personal injury, illness, cancellations and loss or damage to personal belongings.

8. Privacy & Data Protection
  1. Shared History Tours is committed to protecting the privacy and personal data of all clients.
  2. Any personal information provided during the booking process will be used solely for booking administration, communication related to the tour experience and legal or administrative requirements where applicable.
  3. Client data will not be shared with third parties except where necessary for the operation of the tour or where required by law.
